Extensive Physics teaching experience with a compassionate approach

Andy is a former teacher and Head of Department with over 27 years of experience working in independent schools across England.

He also has five years of experience providing face-to-face and online tutoring to students at different stages of their Physics education.

Andy is passionate about Physics and genuinely interested in helping students progress through stronger understanding rather than short-term memorisation.

He continually works to improve the way that subject material is explained and presented so that complex ideas become more accessible to individual learners.

A complete lesson record with resources in one place

Andy uses a digital whiteboard throughout his online lessons. The completed whiteboard can be saved for the student, providing a full record of explanations, examples and work covered.

Students can annotate the shared whiteboard during the lesson, allowing them to participate actively rather than simply watching an explanation.

Notes, videos, handouts, questions and mark schemes can be placed directly onto the whiteboard before the lesson, helping each session remain organised and focused.

Lessons built around understanding and application

Each session is planned around the learner’s level, individual needs and any relevant SEND information.

Planned for the individual

Lesson content and pace are adapted to the student’s level, confidence, targets and learning needs.

Understanding before memorisation

Andy focuses on helping students understand Physics ideas clearly before applying formulas and methods.

Applying ideas to new situations

Students practise transferring their understanding to unfamiliar questions and different contexts.

Consolidation after the lesson

Appropriate preparation or homework is set to reinforce the ideas and skills covered during the session.
