Fourteen years of Mathematics tutoring across a wide range of ages and levels

Jake is a friendly, enthusiastic and understanding Mathematics tutor with 14 years of teaching and tutoring experience.

He has tutored students at all levels, from Primary and KS2 through to GCSE, A-Level, undergraduate Mathematics and adult learning.

While much of his experience has focused on GCSE and A-Level Mathematics, his academic background allows him to support students studying more advanced university-level material.

Jake’s goal is to help every student achieve their own personal objectives, whether that involves improving confidence, strengthening core understanding, preparing for examinations or developing advanced mathematical knowledge.

Teaching Mathematics in the way each student understands best

Jake identifies how each student learns most effectively and adapts his explanations, examples and lesson structure accordingly.

Individualised teaching

Jake learns how each student processes information and then adapts lessons to suit their specific learning needs.

Theory when needed

Some students benefit from understanding the deeper theory behind a topic before moving on to practical examples.

Learning through examples

Other students learn best by working through examples, recognising patterns and applying methods to new questions.

Exam technique

Lessons can include targeted exam preparation, question interpretation and methods for presenting clear, accurate solutions.

Mathematics support from early foundations to university study

Jake supports students across a broad range of levels, adapting the depth, pace and style of teaching to the learner’s age, course and personal objectives.

Younger learners can develop strong foundations and confidence, while GCSE and A-Level students can receive focused subject and examination support.

University students and adult learners can work on advanced concepts, mathematical theory or areas where they require additional explanation and guidance.

  • Primary and KS2 Core skills, confidence and mathematical foundations
  • KS3 Mathematics Building knowledge and preparing for GCSE study
  • GCSE Mathematics Topic support, problem solving and exam preparation
  • A-Level Mathematics Advanced concepts, techniques and exam questions
  • University undergraduate Higher-level theory and advanced mathematical topics
  • Adult learners Flexible support based on individual study or professional goals
“My aim as a tutor is to learn the ways in which each individual student learns optimally, then teach them in the way they will understand best.”
