About Katie

A calm and creative approach to learning

Katie is a primary school teacher based in Wrexham who has worked as a teacher for more than two years. She studied at Wrexham University and has experience teaching across a wide range of subjects in both England and Wales.

Katie particularly enjoys supporting children who feel stuck, overwhelmed or anxious about learning. Her lessons are designed to feel calm and manageable, with larger problems broken down into smaller steps so students can work through them with greater confidence.

Creativity is one of Katie's main strengths. She is comfortable changing direction during a lesson when something is not working and adapting activities, explanations or examples in the moment to better suit the learner.

Her experience includes working across Primary education as well as SEN secondary settings, giving her experience with different ages, abilities and learning needs.

0-21 Experience supporting children and young people across a wide age range

Katie has worked with learners aged from infancy through to young adulthood, including substantial experience supporting those with additional needs.

SEN experience

Experienced in adapting learning for additional needs

Katie has extensive experience working with children and young people with additional needs, including experience in both Primary and SEN secondary environments.

This means she is used to adapting the pace, structure and presentation of learning rather than expecting every student to respond to the same teaching method.

Katie's ability to think creatively during a lesson is particularly useful when a learner needs a different explanation, a more visual approach or a task broken into smaller stages.

Katie's approach

Structured enough to give direction, flexible enough to adapt

Katie combines clear lesson structure with the flexibility to change activities or explanations when a student needs a different approach.

Step-by-step teaching

Larger problems are broken down into smaller stages so students can focus on one part at a time and understand how each step connects.

Creative explanations

Katie is comfortable changing an activity or explanation during the lesson when the original approach is not helping the student.

Weekly practice

Katie provides regular practice tasks so students can continue reinforcing what they have learnt between lessons.

Regular feedback

Students receive regular feedback so they can recognise their own progress and understand which areas they still need to work on.

Building confidence

Helping students see their own progress

Katie uses practice and feedback to make progress visible to the learner, helping students move away from feeling stuck and towards greater independence.

Weekly practice tasks

Tasks between lessons give students opportunities to reinforce new learning and identify anything that needs further explanation.

Constructive feedback

Feedback focuses on both what has improved and what the student should work on next, helping progress feel more manageable.

Track improvement

Katie encourages students to recognise their own development, which can be particularly helpful for learners who lack confidence in their ability.
